EMPLOYMENT TERM: Extra Duty Assignment for the School Year REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Assistant Principal STIPEND: $800 RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide ongoing support to certified and non-certified teachers who are new to the profession (1-3 years) and educators who are new to Berkeley County Schools. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Possession of a valid West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate. · Minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience. · Documented record of successful performance evaluations for the past three consecutive years of employment. · Current employment status with Berkeley County Schools. PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES & EXPERTISE: · Advanced pedagogical knowledge and strong instructional execution. · Understanding of West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards. · Proficiency in designing, analyzing, and utilizing formative and summative assessments to drive student achievement. · Demonstrated expertise in utilizing diverse, evidence-based instructional strategies to enhance and support student learning. · Proficiency in seamlessly integrating instructional technology to enhance lesson delivery and engagement. · Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a proven capacity to motivate, inspire, and support colleagues. · A collaborative mindset with a commitment to working effectively within multi-disciplinary school teams and professional learning communities. · A genuine passion for cultivating talent and supporting educators who are new to the profession or new to the school building. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: · Serve as a school-based mentor for two (2) mentees within the home school; however, mentors in specialized areas (e.g., Fine Arts) may be assigned to a mentee at another school location, with check-ins conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams as needed. · Facilitate a minimum of 20 documented check-in meetings per school year with each assigned mentee. · Each of the 20 required check-ins per mentee must be 30 minutes in length. · Maintain and submit accurate, up-to-date documentation of all meetings. · Complete the 2-day free WVDE Foundations of Mentoring training within the active school year, if not already done so. See details here: https://wvde.us/educator-staff-development/professional-learning-framework/mentor-training · Collaborate with administration, Academic Specialists, and county-based Academic Instructional Mentor for additional, and in-depth support for the mentee(s). · Model all aspects of professionalism and maintain strict employee confidentiality. · Build trust and provide emotional support to mentees in a supportive, rather than evaluative, capacity. · Must be available for commitments beyond the instructional day when necessary to meet program expectations. · Participate in assigned sessions to stay current with county initiatives
