About this role
Norfolk Technical Center Adult Apprenticeship School is seeking a qualified and experienced electrical instructor to provide evening instruction for adult apprenticeship students. The instructor will deliver related technical instruction aligned with state-approved apprenticeship standards and support adult learners in developing the professional knowledge and skills necessary for success in their chosen field. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide engaging, effective instruction to adult apprenticeship students in accordance with approved curriculum and apprenticeship standards.
• Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that align with course objectives.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with students, administrators, and apprenticeship partners.
• Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
• Comply with all Norfolk Technical Center policies and Virginia apprenticeship requirements.
Required Qualifications
• Current, valid Professional Master's License in the applicable trade or field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the profession.
• Demonstrated subject-matter expertise and ability to instruct adult learners.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior teaching, training, or instructional experience in adult education or apprenticeship programs.
• Familiarity with Virginia registered apprenticeship standards and requirements.
Work Schedule
• Evenings Only
• Mon/Wed 6 PM – 9 PM or Tue/Thurs 6 PM-9 PM
• Additional preparation or administrative duties may be required outside of scheduled class time.
