About this role
**This position is from the start of school through 9-21-26 Long Term Substitute Art Teacher at McCall Middle School; grades 6-8, CAW Preferred Applicants for the Art Teacher position should have the following, but not limited to:
• Licensure in Secondary Art 5-12 in the state of Massachusetts or equivalent
• Experience with instruction on a wide variety of materials
• Solid understanding of the State and National art standards
• Broad knowledge of and familiarity with historical and contemporary artists and period styles, the techniques and processes associated with drawing, painting, and three-dimensional studio materials, and a working knowledge of the elements and principles of art and design.
• Flexibility and a willingness to learn and try new things
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate.
Role & Responsibilities: the Art Teacher will:
• Provide opportunities for students to work and share collaboratively and to develop a strong sense of respect for self and others, while helping young students appreciate art and develop their own artistic expressions.
• Work cooperatively with a team to uphold a strong school program incorporating both state and district frameworks.
• Assess student performance/work and communicate feedback to students and families regularly through district-designated evaluation procedures and protocols.
• Align Content and instruction to the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Frameworks and to district scope and sequences.
• Abide by state statutes, school board policies, district handbook, and regulations.
• Remain current by participating in ongoing professional development activities within and out-of-district, such as instructional technology.
• Carry out all other duties assigned by the Principal or WPS Administration.
