SCHOOL COUNSELOR Qualifications:
• Holds or is eligible for a valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate with School Counselor endorsement or a similar School Counselor Certificate.
• A Master's degree in School Counseling or related field from an accredited college or university
• A minimum of 3 successful years in School Counseling and/or Teaching is preferred.
• Must exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
Reports to: Supervisor of Clinical Support Services and Building Principal Job Goal: To support the academic, socio-emotional, and behavioral development of all students by providing a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes student success and well-being. Performance Responsibilities:
• Provide classroom, individual, and small group counseling lessons that address student academic, personal, and socio-emotional needs.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with state and national standards.
• Appraise and assist students in developing academic, personal, and socio-emotional goals consistent with their identified values and belief systems.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student academic and socio-emotional development and success.
• Facilitate conflict resolution, peer mediation, and crisis interventions as needed.
• Participate in the development and implementation of MTSS, Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS), Section 504 plans, HIB management, and Threat Assessment procedures
• Provide resources and referrals for students and families to both internal and external agencies and mental health providers.
• Support school wide Tier 1 initiatives related to socio-emotional learning (SEL), positive behavior supports (PBIS), school climate and culture, and student wellness
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with ethical and legal guidelines
• Participate in Annual professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in school counseling
Compensation: As per GTEA Contract ($64,290 - $109,356 per year). Final compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.) Terms of Employment: 10 month year Vacation: There is no vacation time allotted to this position Evaluation: Performance of the job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of Board Policy
