About this role
Develop in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, utilizing skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the students' interests and abilities; to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents in students in the field of art. REPORTS TO: Principal or designee QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Hold or be currently eligible for a valid Rhode Island certification as All Grades Art Teacher, Grades PK-12; 2.Evidence of developing teaching strategies that will address the unique needs of each student; 3.Ability to know and utilize technology in the teaching and learning process; 4.Demonstrated ability to perform the job requirements as evidenced by course work, educational experience, teaching experience, and the interview process. 6.Any such alternative qualifications to the above as the committee may deem acceptable and appropriate.
All educators hired by Middletown Public Schools must provide Certification of demonstrated Proficiency or Awareness in Science of Reading and Structured Literacy, appropriate to the work assignment. JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1. Appropriate Rhode Island Certification - K-12 Art. 2. Relevant credentials. 3. Relevant successful experience. 4. Support a vision that reflects an ALL STUDENTS classroom program. 5. Adhere to the R.I. Educator Code of Professional Responsibilities. 6. Demonstrate knowledge of subject area. 7. Ability to work with colleagues, parents, students and administrators. 8. Ability to know and utilize technology in the teaching and learning process. 9. Knowledge of curriculum, standards and performance assessment. 10. Support the implementation of the educational reform initiatives at all school levels. 11. Familiar with Art Learning Theory as applied to the general art classroom curriculum. 12. Deliver a proficiency-based art instructional program that incorporates art standards. 12. Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time. 13. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive studio environment. 14. Provide leadership for instructionally based student activities and events. 15. Evaluate each student's performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings and prepare progress reports and portfolios as necessary. 16. Collaborate with other arts colleagues K-12 in common district efforts. 17. Plans and presents art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students' work for the school and community 18. Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers. 19. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities; 20. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 21. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. 22. Positive attitude. 23 Successful interview. 24.
