Competency in computer skills Reports to: Superintendent of Education, the Deputy Superintendent the designee of the Superintendent, and the Special Services Director Job Goal: To assure the smooth, efficient operation of service to Special Education students Mission and Goals

• Works with the Superintendent, principals, Director of Special Services, and those whom he/she supervises to articulate and promote the school system's vision of learning and teaching

• Monitors and evaluates progress toward accomplishment of system goals and objectives

• Uses student data to identify program needs

• Develops goals and objectives, programs and operations that are consistent with school system vision, mission, and goals

• Ensures that unit and program plans are consistent with the system's strategic plan

• Organizes daily, monthly, and yearly schedules to facilitate learning and teaching in the schools

• Communicates high expectations of students, staff, and parents/guardians

• Creates, identities, encourages, and supports innovative ideas that in turn support learning and teaching in the schools

Management of Educational Resources

• Selects and utilizes personnel to meet the needs of the school district

• Administers the finances of the district with sound fiscal management and educational practices

• Assists with the development of the budget and makes allocations to schools in an equitable manner

• Achieves maximum results for available resources and money spent

Budget and Planning

• Works with Central Office personnel relative to purchase orders and maintains monthly records

• Advises Director of Special Services of necessary supply needs

• Works with Director of Special Services on budget

• Works with the Director of Special Services in the development of any new program deemed necessary for the efficiency of the total SPED program

General

• Maintains district-wide tracking procedures for initial and re-evaluation cases that are in the assessment process

• Assists in assigning students to the Psychologist or Psychometrist for testing in conjunction with referrals called in by the LSC Chairperson and completion of the physical assessment

• Works closely with the nurse regarding timelines of referrals, both initial and re-evaluation

• Monitors changing requirements of Every Student Succeeds Act relative to Special Education students

• Provides timely information to parents, teachers, and other appropriate individuals

• Performs any other tasks as required by the Superintendent of Education, the Deputy Superintendent, the designee of the Superintendent, and the Director of Special Services

Terms of Employment: Ten, eleven, or twelve month year. Salary and work year will be established by the Board. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
