About this role

Math Specialist The job of the Math Specialist is done for the purpose of providing math instructional assistance for qualifying Tier 2 and Tier 3 students. The Math Specialist is an employee of Bardwell Group and reports to the Program Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, Assistant Principals, and School Leader/Director. QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree or above from an accredited four-year college or university. Masters degree preferred

• Valid Michigan Teacher's Certificate for the appropriate grade level and/or subject matter

• Math Endorsement

• Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience with at least 2 years in the K-12 classroom

• Must meet all applicable state certification and other requirements for the position

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Program: The Math Specialist's full-time job is to provide targeted mat intervention to students in the MTSS program. As needed, assist in the development of Math instruction. Instructional responsibilities include:

• Administer math instruction to small groups for Tier 2 and Tier 3 to close the achievement gap.

• Creates schedule for identified MTSS students.

• Plans math instruction for Tier 2 and Tier 3 using formal and informal math data.

• Maintains math records on student achievement as needed for Title 1 reporting.

• A math instruction and assessment resource to classroom teachers

• Prepares and interprets math data, formal and informal, developing instructional best practice suggestions as needed.

• Conducts math in-service trainings

• Coordinates Math nights for parents and families

• Meets and collaborates with other Math Specialists in the District

• Participates in grade-level PLCs and other PLCs to discuss math data.

• Participate on School Improvement Team.

• Performs other duties as assigned

Staff Development:

• Provide resources and training opportunities for professional growth for classroom teachers (e.g., through in-service courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, etc. as approved by the Superintendent/Academic Director) on evidence-based math research and practices

• Provide for his/her own professional growth by attending in-service courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.

• Act as a catalyst for building a school learning community that focuses on integrated learning, and building connections across grades.
