Position Summary The Middle School Volleyball Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading a comprehensive volleyball program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and a positive educational experience. The coach will foster a safe and inclusive environment while supporting the district's mission of developing student-athletes who demonstrate character, commitment, and excellence both on and off the court. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices that develop fundamental volleyball skills and game knowledge.
• Teach proper techniques, strategies, and rules of volleyball appropriate for middle school student-athletes.
• Prepare athletes physically and mentally for practices and competitions.
• Foster good sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, respect, and positive character among student-athletes.
• Establish and communicate clear expectations for behavior, attendance, effort, and academic responsibility.
• Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices, contests, and team travel.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by following district policies and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with the Activities Director, administration, and high school coaching staff to maintain consistency within the volleyball program.
• Maintain effective communication with student-athletes, parents, school personnel, officials, and community members.
• Promote and encourage academic success by monitoring student eligibility and supporting student achievement.
• Manage and maintain volleyball equipment, uniforms, and facilities while reporting equipment needs to the Activities Director.
• Attend coaches' meetings, rules clinics, and professional development opportunities as required.
• Ensure compliance with all Kingsley-Pierson Community School District policies, Iowa High School Athletic Association (where applicable), Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union guidelines, and other governing organizations.
• Represent Kingsley-Pierson Community School District with professionalism and integrity at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or administration.
