About this role
This position is a 3.75-hour position during the school year. Hours are 9:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Demonstrates aptitude for successful performance of the responsibilities listed below. 2.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate or acceptable. REPORTS TO: Head Cook and Director of Food Service JOB GOAL: To serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Assists in the preparation of food portions and prepares cafeteria counter.
• Serves students and staff from the cafeteria counter, rapidly and efficiently.
• Performs dishwashing responsibilities rapidly and efficiently.
• Cashiers rapidly and efficiently during lunch periods.
• Collects lunch money from adults.
• Replenishes milk cooler, napkin and straw containers, and any other supplies as needed.
• Prepares bank deposit and collects computerized sales reports.
• Monitors free and reduced lunch students for discrepancies.
• Works with a computer generated list of students who have charged meals or milk and send notes to parents concerning these charges. Confers with principal on long overdue charges.
• All appropriate paper work completed and presented to the supervisor on a daily basis.
• Report time worked for food service employees on a needed basis.
• Prepares food for proper storage and return food to central kitchens at the end of the work day.
• Prepares monthly inventory from satellite schools to be given to their head cook.
• Follows food safety and cleanliness standards and monitors each other as well as themselves.
• Performs other reasonable duties as are assigned by the head cook or Director of Food Service for the general well being of the student.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Removes used dishes and assists in the cleaning of counters, tables and furnishings in the dining area.
• Maintains the trash and garbage collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion.
• Cleans the cafeteria tables following the dismissal of each group of lunch students.
• Follows the dress code for kitchen staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Kneel, reach and bend frequently.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits to be determined in accordance with the negotiated agreement between Crawford Central Board of School Directors and Crawford Central Educational Support Professional Association. EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of non-professional personnel by the Director of Food Service and Coordinator of Food Service.
