TITLE: Substitute Teacher REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES: N/A TERM: 10 Months JOB GOAL: Provides classroom instruction and facilitates student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher while maintaining a safe, productive, and positive learning environment. QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Effective decision-making skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Complete the Haywood County Schools Substitute Teacher Training
• Complete all required employment paperwork and onboarding requirements

Applicants who have completed the application and uploaded all required documentation will be contacted regarding the next steps in the hiring process. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in the teacher's lesson plans.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Maintains a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom environment.
• Follows established school policies, classroom procedures, and daily routines.
• Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor as a positive role model for students.
• Remains at school for the entire assigned workday unless otherwise directed by the building principal.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and school facilities.
• Maintains appropriate standards of student conduct that encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes at the designated locations and times.
• Supervises students throughout the school day as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administration.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the building principal based on dependability, classroom management, adherence to lesson plans, professionalism, and the ability to provide an effective learning environment for students.
