Position: Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional Supervisor(s): Director of Human Resources and Campus Administrators Dept/Campus: Assigned Campus POSITION SUMMARY:
• Teacher: Assume the classroom teacher's responsibilities
• Paraprofessional: Support the classroom teacher in meeting the needs of students
REQUIREMENTS:
• Attend a substitute orientation (in person and/or virtual)
• Complete Online Substitute Training Course
• DPS fingerprinting and Criminal History check
• Submit a high school diploma, a certified copy of college transcripts, and valid teacher's certification
• Identification Badge (obtained through the HR office after hire)
• Possess a touch-tone telephone as required by the substitute calling automated system
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Report to the campus front office upon arrival at school
• Maintain the established schedule, routines, and procedures of the school and classroom
• Follow all policies, rules, and procedures assigned to teachers/paraprofessionals
• Perform assigned duties, such as the playground, cafeteria, hall, etc.
• Follow attendance accounting procedures
• Teach the lessons outlined and described in the substitute folder or the lesson plan book
• Prepare lesson plans with assistance, as directed by the campus administrator, when lesson plans are not available in the classroom
SALARY:
• Certified Teacher (valid certification from Texas or another state): $120.00 a day
• Non-certified Teacher (60 college credit hours or more): $90.00 a day
• Paraprofessional: (high school diploma or less than 60 college credit hours): $80.00 a day
