About this role
Responsibilities include but not limited to: •Maintaining and updating cumulative health records •Developing/revising school health policies and procedures •Acting as agent to implement the school physician’s recommendations and requirements for the safety of students and school personnel •Planning, implementing, and supervising school health screening programs •Organizing and conducting, with school physician approval, the tuberculin skin testing program for school personnel •Participating in school’s student services team meetings and other meetings as appropriate
Qualifications: •Licensed Registered Nurse •Current license to practice nursing in Maine w/courses in public health •Certification as required by the Department of Educational and Cultural Services •CPR and First Aid •Basic computer Skills Experience: •Experience in emergency or school nursing – PREFERRED Job Goal: Works in the school setting to maintain a maximum level of wellness for all children. The school nurse communicates effectively with students, homes, and school staff to support and improve the physical, mental, and social environment in which learning takes place.
