Summary:
The Manager, Auditing Services, will develop, direct, and supervise the district’s internal audit programs and activities to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of fiscal responsibilities, personnel, procurement, contracting, and other operating systems protective of the board’s assets.
SUPERVISORY EXPECTATIONS: Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. · Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions. Responsibilities: SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develops, plans, directs, and supervises the work of a professional staff of internal auditors engaged in the systematic auditing of fiscal and financial transactions. • Supervises audits of internal accounts pursuant to School Board Responsible for Internal Funds (SBA) 6A-1.087 (2). • Determines professional development needs and provides professional development training of audit staff in auditing techniques, standards, and professionalism. • Evaluates internal accounting and administrative controls in relation to cost-benefits and effectiveness. • Develops audit programs to be followed by audit staff in performing audit. • Reviews policies and procedures in order to make recommendations to improve upon and standardize the processes. • Inspects and analyzes operations within the area of assignment to take action to continuously improve procedures, services, and support to schools and work locations. • Conducts training of employees in the procedures and techniques required in the department. Assists staff by providing technical guidance and direction. • Establishes cooperative relationships with district departments, employees, and suppliers, effectively communicating and interpreting policies, and procedures as necessary. • Identifies and resolves departmental issues, with reference to higher authority as may be required for corrective action. • Assists in the preparation and issuance of various internal monthly and annual reports that accurately represent the department’s activities. • Represents the department at meetings with other school district departments, suppliers, and other public agencies, pertaining to the division. •Performs any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully. Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred. Degree or formal training in accounting, business administration, business management, finance, information technology, educational leadership, or administration preferred. Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in purchasing, accounting, auditing, or business required, with three (3) years of related management or supervisory experience preferred. Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor preferred. Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) certification preferred. Language Skills: Reads and interprets general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Writes reports, correspondence, and manuals. Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public. Mathematical Skills: Applies advanced math concepts and math operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, correlation techniques, and sampling theory. Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs. The district accords preference in selection, retention, and promotion procedures to certain veterans and spouses of veterans who are Florida residents.
