Cheer Coach (Anticipated) Needed Location: Champlain Valley Union High School

Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated professional to lead our Cheer team for the 2026-2027 season. We are looking for an individual who can foster a competitive and supportive environment while helping student-athletes develop personally and competitively. This is an anticipated, part-time, category III stipend position.

The season begins on Thursday, August 13, 2026, and runs through the beginning of November. Candidates must have the ability to attend all practices and varsity football games.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop the Cheer program, providing specialized instruction and skill development to high school student-athletes.

• Oversee game management responsibilities and foster a competitive yet sportsmanlike team culture.

• Manage player development, safety, and supervision to support student achievement and well-being.

• Work collaboratively with the athletic department, and activities director to ensure program continuity, alignment with school goals, and clear communication with families.

• Ensure all safety, educational, and school district protocols are followed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

• Previous cheer experience, either through prior participation or coaching roles.

• Strong knowledge of cheer rules, techniques, and strategies.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to interface effectively with student-athletes, families, and the broader school community.

• A proven ability to mentor and motivate high school-aged athletes, cultivating a lifelong appreciation for physical fitness, teamwork, and positive choices.

• A deep commitment to inclusivity, helping to develop an environment that represents and welcomes all students and families.

• Must hold a valid CPR/AED Certification and complete all mandatory NFHS courses.

This is a part-time stipend position based on qualifications and experience. The position is a "category III activity" on our co-curricular contract and the compensation is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement. More information about CVSD can be found on our district website.
