MUSIC EDUCATION AND BAND TEACHER - MA DESE Music All Levels License Preferred

POSITION SUMMARY: The successful candidate will have demonstrated current/past music classroom and band director experience. The successful candidate will have a passion for music education, working knowledge of vocal, woodwind, brass & percussion instruments and their pedagogies, and will be able to meet the following duties:

DUTIES:

• Teach and implement music lessons and curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Music Standards and Bellingham Curriculum Guides.

• Teach music courses that may include: General Music, Instrumental Group Lessons, 6th Grade Band and 7th Grade Band. Final schedule is to be determined.

• Maintain necessary records required for assessment and attendance.

• Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.

• Oversee student behavior in class and surrounding areas and maintain normal classroom routines and discipline within the classroom.

• Maintain appropriate boundaries with students, staff, and parents

• Create and foster an inclusive and culturally sensitive classroom environment that is supportive of all students' academic and social development.

• Collaborate and communicate with other music staff to maintain a comprehensive music curriculum, maintain instruments and equipment and resources.

• Assume responsibility for duties that may be assigned by the building principal.

• Adhere to the procedures and policies as adopted by the Bellingham School Committee.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:

• MA DESE Music All Levels License Preferred

• Bachelors Degree Preferred

SALARY: Per Contract CLASSIFICATION: BTA Union REPORTS TO: Building Principal SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Students
