About this role
The Central Office Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for the Adair County School District Board of Education. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional environment by greeting visitors, answering and directing a multi-line telephone system, and providing accurate information to students, parents, staff, and community members. The receptionist supports the daily operations of the Central Office by performing a variety of clerical and customer service duties while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Answer and manage a multi-line telephone system in a courteous, timely, and professional manner.
• Greet visitors, parents, students, employees, and community members entering the Central Office.
• Determine the nature of visitors' inquiries and direct them to the appropriate department or staff member.
• Provide general information regarding district programs, departments, policies, and services.
• Assist visitors in locating forms, applications, and other district resources.
• Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and deliveries.
• Maintain the reception area to ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
• Monitor visitor sign-in procedures and assist with district security protocols.
• Schedule appointments or meeting room reservations as assigned.
• Perform routine clerical duties including filing, copying, scanning, data entry, and preparing correspondence.
• Assist Central Office administrators and departmental staff with administrative tasks as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality of student, personnel, and district information in accordance with applicable laws and district policies.
• Operate standard office equipment including computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and postage equipment.
• Respond to questions and resolve routine concerns while providing excellent customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designated supervisor.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous receptionist, administrative assistant, or customer service experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system efficiently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general office technology.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced office environment.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
