Director of Buildings and Grounds The Central City School District is hiring a Buildings and Grounds Director. General hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m, but may be flexible as needed. 12 month salaried position, starting at $50,000 per year - wage based on relevant experience. The Director of Buildings and Grounds will: ● Oversee maintenance and repair of facilities and grounds. ● Hire, supervise, and train custodial staff. ● Delegate tasks to the custodians as needed. ● Communicate with custodians each day. ● Design and oversee team scheduling ● Work alongside custodial staff to ensure all priorities of the Buildings and Grounds Department are met ● Promote a positive attitude towards co-workers and staff. ● Promote and model teamwork. Duties and responsibilities include: Conducting preventative maintenance, filter changes, belt replacements on all rooftop units and chillers for the heating and cooling of the school buildings and the daycare. Working closely with administration to ensure their needs are met, and everything is functioning properly. Performing other related duties as assigned by Superintendent or Administration. Ordering supplies for custodial, janitorial, and maintenance needs. Checking temperatures throughout the school daily to make sure everything is running properly. Replacing dead bulbs and lamps inside and outside as needed. Checking flagpole lights each day. Replacing worn flags routinely and placing flags at half-mast when necessary. Maintaining monthly testing for emergency and exit lights, and fire extinguishers. Keep records signed and up to date each month. Repair or replace as needed. Working closely with Superintendent and administration on projects to be implemented throughout the school year. Prepare job bids and schedule project completion by outside contractors. Organize a summer project list and schedule completion through the summer months. Making yourself available to help out wherever you are needed throughout the day. Making sure all areas of the school are cleaned and repairs are made as needed. Being available to clean up the commons area after lunch hours each day. Working closely with the Activities Director to prepare the outdoor fields for track practices and events, and football practices and events. Cleaning up the outdoor fields and empty garbage cans after sporting events. Making sure the gyms are cleaned, set up and ready for games and events that are scheduled. Ensuring the outdoor concessions restrooms cleaned regularly, and the bus building restrooms cleaned regularly. Qualifications: Must be dependable. Strong supervisory and leadership skills Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate tasks when necessary Knowledge of custodial and janitorial practices Some knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, electrical and HVAC equipment. Ability to estimate costs and work effort. Good communication skills. Able to work well with administrators and staff Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry heavy materials, furniture, equipment and tools. Prepared and ready for climbing, crawling, and stooping to reach work. Have the strength and dexterity to operate tools and equipment, and pull, push or manipulate heavy objects 100 lbs. or more. Work outdoors in extreme temperatures and inclement weather. Work on ladders and scissors lift. Work in exposure to bacterial contamination and hazardous chemicals and fumes. Vision to computer screens, written materials, blueprints and diagrams. Speech and hearing for in person and telephone calls. Sense of smell to detect abnormal conditions such as smoke and odors associated with malfunctions and leaks.
