TITLE: 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher - Moore Middle POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a dynamic, friendly, student-centered Social Studies teacher to join our teaching faculty at Moore. The Middle School Social Studies Teacher will provide direct instruction using evidence-based best practices, and high quality instructional materials so that each student is able to reach their academic potential. The successful candidate will be adept at fostering an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals, ensuring equitable access to learning opportunities for all students. In addition, the successful candidate will have the responsibility to develop and adjust curricular and instructional materials to monitor student progress and meet the needs of a range of learners. This role aims to implement culturally relevant instruction, integrate content across disciplines, use data, and differentiate to meet student needs. Communicating and interacting with students, parents, colleagues and community members are essential in this role. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direction of the school Principal:
• Plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students • Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure Success for Every Student • Supervises students in a variety of school related settings • Monitors and evaluates student outcomes • Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community • Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students • Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices • Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of PPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, PPS policies, and effective instructional practices • Understanding of the teaching/learning process • Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education • Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and community • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in the applicable field of education from an accredited college or university. CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization (more info). • One of the following Maine State Teacher Certificates (more info): • General Elementary 020 (K-8 only) • Middle Level Social Studies 200 (5-8) • Secondary Social Studies 200 (6-12)
