Internal Applicants ONLY Part-Time ParaEducator Preparation Class Instructor York School District 1/Tri-District Adult Education “Thrive After Five” Course *Internal Candidates Only Job Description Qualifications: · SC Teacher Certification, required · A minimum of 3 years as a classroom teacher · Experience working with paraeducators (teacher assistants), preferred · Able to teach/tutor reading and math content assessed on the ParaPathways Exam · Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional strategies for adult learners · Proficient in the use of technology and the ability to integrate technology into instruction · Excellent organizational skills and the ability to complete records and reports neatly, accurately, and in a timely manner · Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Work Schedule: · 10 day course during fall session (October 13 – November 19) · 10 day course during spring session (date TBD) · Tuesday and Thursdays 5pm – 8pm, plus 1.5hrs planning for each class day. Location: · Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center, York School District 1 Date Available: · 2026-2027 School Year (2 – 10 Day Sessions – See Work Schedule Above) Compensation: · $28/hr Job Summary: The paraeducator preparation class instructor will prepare for and teach a 10 day, 3 hour/day course to prepare adult learners to take the ParaPathways exam and gain knowledge regarding the role of paraeducators in the classroom. The instructor will teach/tutor learners reading and math skills assessed on the ParaPathways exam. Through guest speakers, videos, and classroom activities, the instructor will also provide opporunties for students to become familiar with topics regarding special education, working with collegueges, communicating with parents, classroom management, child development, and the hiring process. *Please reach out to Kristy Austin, Director of Tri-District Adult Education with questions or to express interest in this opportunity.
