POSITION SUMMARY: Oversees the procurement of goods and services for the Nutrition Services Department. Maintains the bids, contract and agreements. Maintains food and supply price changes and verifies the prices for accuracy daily and/or weekly. Monitors food recalls notifications and send out alerts. Maintains working relationships with vendors, distributors and brokers. This position reports to the Nutrition Services Accounting Manager. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains contracts and price agreements to ensure that all contract conditions are followed. Monitors the quality of food, supplies and services that are being procured by Nutrition Services. Coordinates with nutrition managers, warehouse personnel, and purchasing to resolve any issues with vendors. Process school orders and deliveries to ensure products and services are received in a timely manner to meet menu and special activities. Establishes, qualifies and maintains a list of vendors capable of delivering goods and/or services. Maintains contact with vendors to assist in successful participation in the purchasing process. Disseminates information to vendors and District staff concerning Nutrition Services purchasing policies and procedures. Ensures that all laws, regulations and policies are followed. Maintains current knowledge of purchasing practices through educational programs, research, vendor contact, trade literature and trade shows. Analyzes inflation rates and provides cost estimates of food and supplies for budgetary purposes. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Collaborates with the purchasing department on the competitive bid processes and procedures. Evaluates procurement accounting functions and makes recommendations for improvement in processes and procedures. Coordinates input/output of data and reports to the School Nutrition Office, other central offices, schools, and external sources. All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services. KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or GED required. Associates degree or higher in business management, accounting, finance, project management, or foodservice management preferred. Minimum of three years of experience procuring good and services for schools, federal, state or local governments, or industry organizations required. Working knowledge of Federal Guidelines that govern the National School Lunch Program preferred. Makes procurement decisions which impact the School Nutrition Department under the guidance of the School Nutrition Accounting Manager. Procurement, Accounting or database management certification preferred. Analytical and detailed independent judgment is required. Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance and supervision of the Nutrition Services Accounting Manager. Collaborates with various teams within the department to execute leadership procurement decisions. Collaborates with external partners to execute leadership procurement decisions. Provides training, and guidance to School Nutrition staff and cafeteria managers. Proficient in accounting software. Be willing to learn the district's accounting and the departmental software. Responsibility for the Welfare of Others: Constant (Daily) - to exercise the duty of care and protection of the health, safety, security, welfare, well-being, and best interests of the district's various stakeholders. Normal office setting. Occasional duties within warehouse environment. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be capable to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time. NOTE: This is a Grade 23, 225-day position with a salary range of $46,625 - $71,831. Final salary placement within this range is determined based on individual credentials, years of relevant experience, and the guidelines outlined in the CCPS Compensation Handbook found here.
