About this role
CLASS TITLE: SCHOOL BUS DRIVER DEFINITION: Under general supervision, operates a school vehicle in transporting children to and from school and on special trips; and performs related work as required. Work Length: Split Shift - 193 days - 5 hours EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
• Develops the most efficient route for transportation of assigned students
• Drives bus along route, stops and designated points to pick up or discharge students
• Maintains order and enforces rules
• Reports and cities for disciplinary action in cases of extreme or repeated unruliness
• Reports incidents
• Files accident reports when necessary
• Makes routine safety checks on vehicle
• Reports problems or equipment malfunctioning
• Maintains records of all trips
• Keeps bus clean
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience: None Knowledge of:
• Motor vehicle regulations and special codes and regulations related to school buses
• Safe driving practices
Skills in:
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
Ability to:
• Maintain order under difficult circumstances
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Keep records
• Maintain good public relations
Licenses and Certificates:
• Possession of a valid California Class B driver's license
• Class A Bus Driver's Certificate issued by the California Highway
