Ballina Fringe Festival - Events Assistant. Established in 2018, Ballina Fringe Festival is an arts festival that runs every October in Ballina, Co. Mayo and delivers a multidisciplinary programme of arts events (visual art, live music, theatre, dance) alongside its community street art programme, #PureBallina. The purpose of the festival is to increase local engagement with the arts, creating an environment within which artistic creativity can flourish locally, and in doing so attract additional visitors to North Mayo, thus benefitting the local economy outside of the peak tourism season. From day one, it has aimed to build strong and interconnected relationships with stakeholders and the local community, so that they can benefit and participate, and it will continue to build this young festival to a point where it becomes an integral, established part of Ballina’s event offering, attracting artists and visitors to the town to participate and enjoy. The role: Due to continued growth, Ballina Fringe Festival is now seeking an events assistant to help the committee with the planning and delivery of the festival. The role of festival will include the following: • General administration duties including minute-taking at meetings • Assisting with funding applications • Helping to secure sponsorship for the festival, via phone, letter and in-person contact • Assistance with accounts and payments • Marketing duties to include the following: o Liaising with festival artists to gather marketing content o Updating the Ballina Fringe Festival website o Assisting with social media channels (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram) o Helping to promote the festival at a local, regional and national level • Assisting with gathering feedback from festival attendees • Attending and assisting at festival events (may require some evening/weekend work during the week of the festival) What's required for this position • Experience in using the internet • Strong writing and numeracy skills • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel • Some experience in managing social media channels • Good interpersonal skills • A willingness to work in a sales capacity • Ability to manage several tasks and projects simultaneously • Experience in creating graphics/video would be advantageous but is not essential • Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a desire for positive outcomes in the community..
