About this role

Job summary

This is an excellent development opportunity for a experienced therapy assistant to progress to a band 4 Physiotherapy assistant role. As part of this role you will be expected work in a clinically complex environment of patient requiring neuro rehabilitation following a brain injury. You will be integral part of the Physiotherapy team in helping to ensure delivery of patient centred care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to work alongside Physiotherapists to promote and provide rehabilitation to clients within the neuro rehabilitation units. This will involve working closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team as well as working autonomously.

To carry a small client caseload in agreement with Physiotherapist. This will include implementation and evaluation of client centred rehabilitation programmes and adapting programmes as necessary.

The post holder will work independently without direct supervision at times, planning andproviding interventions. They will be in regular liaison with designated Therapists whowill assess all patients and provide the post holder with a rehabilitation programme tofollow.

Person Specification

Qualifications / Training Essential

NVQ3/BTEC SNVQ3 or equivalent standard and applicable to a rehabilitation setting

Experience Essential

Significant experience as a Health Care Support Worker or Therapy Assistant in Neuro Rehabilitation Show evidence of self development and rehabilitation skills with the above mentioned Demonstrate ability to work as part of the MDT

Skills and Knowledge Essential

Demonstrate a knowledge of the basic aims and principles of Physiotherapy and the Therapy Assistant Practitioner role Good written and verbal communication skills Computer literate Physiotherapy skills and completion of associated competencies Knowledge of Physiotherapy equipment and able to assess and fit safely in the community

Personal qualities Essential

Ability to be flexible, adaptable and able to work on own initiative. Able to empathise and relate to patients, carers and staff. Enthusiasm and recognition of the need for self development Advocacy skills

Other job requirements Essential

Independently Mobile to travel across the Trust area Ability to work flexibly across a 7 day working pattern and to provide support across the neuro rehabilitation beds as and when required
