<p style="text-align:justify"><strong><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Job Summary:</span></strong></p><p style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Under the direction of the Technical Manager or general supervision, is responsible for the repair, maintenance, fabrication, or modification of tooling or machinery using a variety of hand and machine tools to maintain all end-making and auxiliary equipment in the plant while ensuring all quality, safety, and production goals are met in compliance with established operating procedures.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif"> </span></p><p style="text-align:justify"><strong><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Job Duties: </span></strong></p><ul><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Safely setup and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments out of metal.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or machine industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Use a variety of hand tools including pneumatic and other electrical power tools to repair plant equipment and tooling.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Use a variety of machine shop equipment to shape steel and other materials into precision forms.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Machine parts following engineering drawings when available. Create diagrams with dimensions for work pieces created.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Maintain tooling library; reordering parts, tooling, and components as needed.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Maintain performance expectations with respect to key performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve operations.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Must be able to recognize waste (wasted labor, time, product, etc.) within the machine shop area, adjust accordingly and aid with developing action plans to drive continuous improvement.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Communicate directly with co-workers on issues, openly share ideas with others, encourage performance in others, give feedback when needed, and train new employees when applicable.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Confer with engineering, supervisory, or operations personnel to exchange technical information.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Support the hazardous waste and recycling programs</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Maintain a safe and clean working environment for self, team members, and equipment through daily maintenance, 5S, and housekeeping activities.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Shall understand the BRC Food Safety Policy, GMP’s, HACCP Principle and Food Safety Standard.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">While conducting work functions, ensures compliance of all policies, procedures, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules (OSHA).</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Provide relief to personnel as necessary.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Other responsibilities as assigned.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif"> </span></li></ul><p style="text-align:justify"><strong><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Qualifications and Experience Requirements:</span></strong></p><ul><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">High School Diploma or Equivalent</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Minimum of two years’ experience as a shop machinist in a manufacturing environment / tool &amp; die maker</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Close tolerance precision grinding experience</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Apprenticeship and/or post-secondary education preferred</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and problem solve</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Understand power sources on all machines used and machine hazards.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Able to present ideas / issues effectively, actively listen, and work across functional boundaries with the ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, customers, and vendors.</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Basic computer skills</span></li><li style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to work all shifts including 8 or 12- hour shifts, daylight, and off-shifts as well as weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed</span></li></ul><p style="text-align:justify"><strong><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Starting Pay Range: </span></strong></p><p style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">$27.00 - $29.97 per hour</span></p><p style="text-align:justify"><strong><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Physical Demands:</span></strong></p><p style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Good hand eye coordination is necessary.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify"> </p><p style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Work Environment:</strong></span></p><p style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">This position works in a manufacturing environment and around machinery that produces noise.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The noise level in the work environment is very loud. Employees must wear hearing protection and all other assigned personal protective equipment. Temperature can range from extreme cold (<40 degrees) to extreme heat (>95 degrees).
