Job title: Stores Person Location: Ashford, Kent Company: QinetiQ Target Systems Salary: Up to c.£27k Hours: 37 hour per week About the role We are currently recruiting for a Stores Person to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Stores Team. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target. QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries. What will I be doing? As a Stores Person, you’ll play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly. Reporting to the Stores Lead, you’ll support goods inwards, kitting, stock control, and dispatch activities — ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and high operational standards at all times. Duties will include: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Receiving and accurately processing incoming goods within the ERP system</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Kitting components and assemblies in line with production requirements</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Packing goods securely and ensuring correct documentation is included</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Supporting stock control activities, including stock checks and inventory accuracy</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Operating a forklift truck (where required)</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Maintaining accurate system records and data integrity</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Contributing to Continuous Improvement initiatives</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, health, and safety.</li> </ul> What do I need? You’ll have experience working in a stores or warehouse environment, ideally within manufacturing. You’ll be organised, reliable, and take pride in working accurately and safely, with good written and verbal communication skills and a strong team focus. You’ll also have: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Knowledge of health & safety practices, including manual handling and hazardous goods</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Confidence using computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">A team-focused, proactive approach</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience operating a forklift truck (a valid Forklift Truck licence is desirable)</li> </ul> It would be an advantage if you have: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience using an ERP or stock management system (including barcoding)</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience using a vertical storage system</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience of working within a Continuous Improvement environment</li> </ul> What else do I need to know?
