We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.</p> <p> </p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:18.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>Purpose</b></H2> </div><div><p style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">The Child Protection FO is responsible for the implementation of child protection activities in the Maiduguri SD. S/he contributes to the coherence of (CRC's response to the protection needs of children affected by the NIAC in the Northeast of Nigeria. S/he focuses on identifying, analyzing and addressing CP issues across all protection files (PCP, PFL, Detention), in line with the delegation's CP strategy and keeping in mind the transversality of the file within Protection, Prevention and Assistance</span></p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:18.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>Accountabilities & functional responsibilities</b></H2> </div><div><p> </p> <ul> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">In hand with the Child Protection delegate, contribute to the understanding of the delegation regarding child protection needs, institutions and policies in NE Nigeria. This will be done through field, discussions with affected communities, participation in multidisciplinary assessments and engagement with other stakeholders focusing on already identified issues to ensure that their rights are protected.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Regular analysis of issues affecting children, identification of objectives, priorities among them and proposing 1CRC's responses, whenever needed.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Has a solid understanding and analysis of ongoing other programmes for affected children and establishes a referral pathway.
