Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate donor records, supporting the administration of charitable income, preparing fundraising resources, assisting at events and helping colleagues deliver high-quality fundraising activity across the Trust and wider community. You will also help strengthen donor stewardship, ensuring supporters feel valued and appreciated.

The role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to manage a busy and changing workload. You'll work closely with colleagues, Trust staff, volunteers and the public, contributing to the smooth running of the office and the continued growth of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.

Main duties of the job

The Fundraising Assistant supports the smooth and welcoming operation of the Fundraising Office. Based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, the role requires working agreed hours across 4-5 days to maintain consistent cover for enquiries and supporter needs.

Supporter CareAct as a warm, professional first point of contact for supporters, staff and community fundraisers. Provide clear information, resolve queries where possible and signpost when needed. Use strong written and verbal communication to ensure donors feel valued.

Administrative SupportCarry out accurate, timely administrative tasks to support daily office operations. Maintain organised digital and physical records and filing systems. Use IT systems confidently, including databases, spreadsheets, email and social media tools.

Fundraising SupportAssist with fundraising activities by preparing materials, resources and supporter information. Keep equipment and promotional items well stocked.

Teamwork & ApproachWork collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues. Manage workload effectively with strong organisation and attention to detail. Demonstrate a positive, adaptable, "can-do" attitude in a busy charity environment.

Job description Job responsibilities

Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity exists to support exceptional patient care across the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust by funding enhancements that go beyond NHS provision. The Fundraising Assistant plays a central role in the charitys operations, contributing to supporter care, administrative efficiency and the smooth delivery of fundraising activities.

This role is based within the Fundraising Office at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, ensuring the post holder is accessible to colleagues, supporters and fundraisers and able to provide timely inperson support. To maintain reliable cover for enquiries and to support continuity of donor care, the post holder will work their agreed hours across 45 days per week.

Working as part of a small, friendly team, the Fundraising Assistant will help maintain accurate donor records, support the processing of charitable income and assist with preparations for fundraising events, materials and communications. They will contribute to a welcoming environment for visitors and supporters and play a key role in helping donors feel valued.

The post holder will frequently be the first point of contact for the charity, engaging with supporters via telephone, email, social media and facetoface interactions. They will ensure messages are handled professionally and routed appropriately, supporting effective communication and excellent stewardship.

The role also involves assisting with meeting preparation, supporting administrative aspects of campaigns and activities, and helping ensure that charity processes are well coordinated and compliant with relevant policies and regulations. The post holder will be expected to manage their workload, work to agreed deadlines and adapt to changing priorities within a busy environment. There may be occasional requirements to support activities outside core office hours, with TOIL provided.

This is a varied and rewarding role, providing an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the impact of charitable funding across the Trust while working within a supportive and collaborative team.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade A-C

Experience Essential

Previous experience working in an administration role.

Desirable

Experience within a charity environment. Experience of using a donor database e.g. Donorfy.

Practical and intellectual skills Essential

Good Communication skills. Well organised with a good attention to detail. Competent and proficient in using Microsoft Office Packages of software.

Desirable

Basic knowledge of charity regulations. Experience of data entry into a donor database and generating reports.

Disposition Essential

Friendly and courteous. 'Can do' attitude.

Desirable

A willingness to get involved with charity events.
