About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an organised, proactive and detail-orientated GP Assistant to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will provide essential administrative support to GPs and the wider practice team.

The role will focus primarily on managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, processing Subject Access Requests (SARs), supporting GDPR compliance, maintaining accurate patient records and undertaking a range of administrative duties on behalf of clinicians.

Main duties of the job

Duties include but not limited to,

-Processing and co-ordinating Subject Access Requests (SARs) in accordance with GDPR and data Protection legislation

-Review records and identify information requiring redaction before disclosure

-Report any information governance concerns, incidents or breaches in line with practice procedures

-Manage incoming clinical and administrative correspondence

-Process and distribute post, emails and electronic documents to the appropriate staff members

-Support GPs with document management and administrative actions

-Maintain up to date patient records

-Support the management of practice workflows and task allocation

-Participate in audits and quality improvement activities where appropriate

-Liaise professionally with patients, healthcare professionals and external organisations

-Communicate effectively and sensitively

-Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role and as requested by the Practice Manager and Admin Manager

Person Specification

Experience Essential

-Experience of working within General Practice -Experience of handling confidential information, GDPR and information governance -Experience of working with Systmone -Experience of using Microsoft Office -Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

Desirable

-Experience processing Subject Access Requests (SARs) -Understanding of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) -Knowledge of Gillick competence and Fraser guidelines and their relevance within primary care -Understanding of consent and capacity
