As a registered Nursing Associate with a PIN number , you will play an important role in supporting patients and the wider healthcare team, helping to deliver safe, effective, and responsive care. Main duties of the job

As a Nursing Associate in a GP practice you will support GPs and nurses in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care. Your key responsibilities include undertaking clinical observations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight measurements; performing procedures including venepuncture, ECGs, wound care, and urine testing; and assisting with the monitoring and management of long-term conditions such as Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Heart failure and hypertension. Any other Nurse associate related duties.

You will also provide health promotion and lifestyle advice, maintain accurate patient records, coordinate follow-up appointments, and communicate effectively with patients to provide support, reassurance, and education. I work within my scope of practice, adhering to professional standards and seeking guidance when required to ensure high-quality patient care.

You will spend one day a week at university and 6 weeks on placement.

Please note you will need to have university commitment for 2 years.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Nursing Associate to join our team. This is a key clinical role supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care, health promotion, and chronic disease management within a general practice setting.

The successful candidate will work within the scope of practice and contribute to patient-centred care, and supports the wider clinical team.

You will manage your own clinical workload, support preventative healthcare, and play an active role in improving patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Deliver high standards of patient-centred nursing care Support the Practice nurse with chronic disease monitoring (e.g. diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension) Perform wound care, dressings, and suture removal Carry out NHS health checks and screening activities Conduct phlebotomy and basic clinical procedures Administer vaccinations and immunisations (training can be provided) Support health promotion clinics (e.g. smoking cessation, weight management)Patient Care & Support

Contribute to holistic patient assessments Support patients with long-term conditions and preventative care planning Promote independence, wellbeing, and healthy lifestyles Liaise effectively with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate careClinical Governance & Safety

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Available to work 30 hours or more per week for the duration of the apprenticeship. NMC registered Nursing association qualification/ Assistant practitioner qualification. English and Maths at GCSE grade C 4/Functional Skills Level 2 Equivalent or above may still be required at application stage due to the nature and level of the programme. An initial diagnostic assessment will also be completed by the Training Provider at application stage. It is highly desirable to also have evidence of Level 3 academic study. Alternatively sufficient practical experience will be considered on an individual basis such as minimum 1 year as HCA plus study at level 2 or above such as NVQ Care Certificate. Good understanding of primary care and patient-centred practice Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Strong communication and organisational skills. Please note you will be required to provide all certificates and university transcript.

Desirable

Experience in general practice or community care Experience supporting patients with long-term conditions Additional clinical skills (e.g. spirometry, immunisations)
