About this role

Job summary

Training Programme Directors have specific responsibilities as agreed in their job plans but retain corporate responsibility with the LTPD for the organisation and supervision of specialty training programmes for general practice within NHSE in line with the national curriculum.

This appointment is to the Postgraduate School of Primary Care. The post will be based at North Cumbria GP Training Programme, Carlisle.

Organising and delivering the taught course to doctors in GP training Advising and supporting hospital and GP trainers Resourcing the assessment systems (ARCP) Support to doctors in difficulty, including early warning, needs assessment and support to trainers of such doctors Training the workforce (GP Educationalists, admin, GP and hospital trainers, educational and clinical supervisors) Supporting the Lead Training Programme Director as required to fulfil the Schools agreed functions You can find further details about the job, in the attached Job Description and other supporting documents.

Experience and Knowledge Essential

Good working knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes Understanding of the relevant Colleges and Faculties of GP Training at both local and national levels. Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education Experience of clinical educational teaching and educational leadership including across multi-professional teams

Qualifications and Training Essential

Registered Medical or Dental Practitioner with a current licence to practise or hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (or equivalent) Applicants should either work in NHS clinical practice (or similar setting) or should have previously undertaken clinical practice within the last 2 years prior to the intended start date of the role Applicants, regardless of professional background, must have a track record of professionalism in line with the principles set out in Good Medical Practice and compatible with appointment in a senior clinical educator role

Desirable

Higher educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, diploma or Master's in education

Skills and Abilities Essential

Strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills Ability to quickly establish personal and professional credibility with colleagues and other key stakeholders Proven organisational and time management skills Ability to support others (inc pastoral skills) and to help others develop and progress
