About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Support Medical Secretary to join the Acute Paediatrics Admin Team at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

The post holder will provide an accurate, confidential and supportive administration service for patients, clinical teams, carers and internal and external agencies (e.g. Local Authority, Third Sector, CAIS) in order to: Provide a safe and efficient patient pathway and provide information and appropriate support to families and carers.

The post holder will provide an efficient high quality administration service to support the medical secretary team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

This challenging position requires someone who is a team player, flexible, organised and is able to work well under pressure. The successful candidate will need to have experience within an administrative role and hold the following qualifications:

GCSE Maths and English at grade C and above or equivalent. NVQ level 3 or equivalent knowledge and experience or willing to work towards. L2 RSA/OCR or equivalent experience.

The successful candidate will poses good communication and customer service skills, they will be organised and will have the ability to prioritise their workload and meet deadlines. The successful applicant will be computer literate and previous experience within the NHS environment could be an advantage. The successful candidate will possess good audio typing skills.

The post holder will be required to work using their own initiative, managing their own workload as well as being part of the admin team providing cover to colleagues where needed.

Qualifications Essential

Good standard of general education/(GCSE maths and English at grade C) and above or equivalent NVQ level 3 or equivalent knowledge and experience or willing to work towards L2 RSA/OCR or equivalent experience

IT related qualification( CLAIT plus or ECDL) NVQ Customer Service L2 L2 Medical terminology Statutory and Mandatory training as per Health Board policy
