About the job:
We're looking for a technically capable, process-minded IT/Systems Administrator to own our cloud infrastructure and internal IT operations. You'll be the go-to person for keeping our systems reliable, secure, and well-documented — and you'll have real latitude to improve how things work. This is a remote-friendly role that suits someone who thinks like a developer but operates like a sysadmin.
Cloud Infrastructure (AWS)
Administer and maintain core AWS services including EC2, RDS/Aurora MySQL, WAF, Load Balancers, and Availability GroupsManage networking components: VPC, VPN, and Route53 DNSSupport app-level services including Elasticache, SQS, SNS, and S3Provision and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform and CloudFormationMonitor infrastructure health, set up alerting, and respond to incidentsManage cost visibility and surface optimization opportunities (right-sizing, reserved instances, etc.)Systems & Application Administration
Support and maintain LAMP stack environments (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)Administer Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, etc.) including users, permissions, and project configurationManage Microsoft 365 and Active Directory: user provisioning/deprovisioning, group policies, and access controlsMaintain and troubleshoot SSL/TLS certificates and domain configurationsSecurity & Compliance
Support annual SOC 2 compliance efforts, including maintaining system documentation, access logs, and audit-ready evidenceEnforce least-privilege access controls and conduct periodic access reviewsAssist with vulnerability management: patching schedules, security scanning, and remediation trackingSupport incident response procedures and maintain runbooks for common failure scenariosManage secrets and credentials using tools such as AWS Secrets Manager or similar vaultsIT Operations & Support
Own the employee lifecycle for IT: onboarding/offboarding, hardware provisioning, and software licensingMaintain a device management program (MDM) for company-issued laptops and endpointsProvide escalation-level support for internal staff on infrastructure, access, and tooling issuesManage vendor relationships for software subscriptions and IT servicesDevOps & Process Improvement
Bring a DevOps mindset to internal tooling — automate repetitive tasks and reduce manual toilMaintain and improve CI/CD pipeline infrastructure where applicableChampion strong documentation habits: runbooks, architecture diagrams, change logs, and SOPsActively evaluate and leverage AI tools to improve team workflows and operational efficiencyRequirements
Must-Have
Hands-on AWS administration experience across the services listed aboveProficiency with Terraform and/or CloudFormationSolid understanding of LAMP stack fundamentalsExperience administering Atlassian products (user management, permissions, spaces/projects)Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory administrationStrong written communication and documentation disciplineExperience supporting or operating within a SOC 2 compliance environmentComfortable using AI-assisted tools in day-to-day workNice-to-Have
Experience with endpoint/MDM solutions (e.g., Jamf, Intune)Exposure to SIEM tools or log aggregation platforms (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk)Scripting ability in Python, Bash, or similar for automation tasksFamiliarity with zero-trust networking or SSO/IdP platforms (e.g., Okta, Google Workspace)Prior experience in a startup or scaling SaaS environment
