Our client is seeking a Senior Solution Engineer to play a key role in the rapidly growing IT automation market. In this role, you will partner closely with Sales and customers to drive complex pre-sales engagements, demonstrating the value of the client’s solutions and leading successful technical evaluations.
You will act as a trusted technical advisor, working with enterprise customers to solve real-world automation challenges through tailored solution design, technical expertise, and strategic guidance. Responsibilities include leading Proof of Concepts, guiding customers through evaluation and implementation approaches, and ensuring alignment between business needs and the client’s capabilities. You will also help shape technical strategy within sales engagements and influence how the client’s solutions are positioned in the market.
This position is based out of the Frankfurt, Germany office and reports to the EMEA/APAC Director of Solution Engineering. The role can be hybrid – 3 days per week onsite, 2 days per week remote – for Frankfurt-based candidates, or fully remote within the EU, with quarterly travel to Frankfurt required.
Your Impact on the Organization:
Pre-Sales Technical Leadership: Lead and support complex pre-sales engagements, including Proof of Concepts and technical evaluations, by demonstrating the value of the client’s solutions and aligning them to customer requirements. Customer Engagement & Advisory: Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and prospects, building strong relationships and guiding them through solution design, implementation strategies, and best practices. Solution Design & Development: Design and deliver tailored automation solutions that address customer challenges, contributing reusable assets and accelerators to enhance future pre-sales engagements. Product & Innovation Contribution: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to provide feedback from the field, influence product direction, and contribute ideas for new features, enhancements, and use cases. Technical Expertise & Problem Solving: Apply deep technical knowledge to troubleshoot issues, resolve complex challenges, and ensure successful deployment and adoption of the client’s solutions. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales, Product, and Support teams to ensure alignment on customer needs, solution positioning, and successful delivery across the customer lifecycle. Content Creation & Enablement: Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, white papers, demos, and training materials to support both internal teams and external stakeholders.Requirements
What You Will Bring to the Team:
Experience: 5+ years of experience with a demonstrated track record of supporting enterprise sales cycles in Solution Engineering, Pre-Sales, or a similar customer-facing technical role within enterprise software environments. Technical Expertise: Required hands-on experience with mainframe environments, including z/OS (JCL, SMPE, and dataset structures), combined with a strong background in enterprise IT infrastructure across Linux/UNIX and Windows environments; experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud; proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Shell, SQL); and a solid understanding of automation, integration, and system architecture concepts. Pre-Sales & Customer Engagement: Proven ability to support complex enterprise sales cycles through technical discovery, solution design, and delivery of compelling demonstrations and Proof of Concepts, with the confidence to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translate complex concepts into clear business value, and influence decision-making throughout the customer journey. Problem Solving & Analytical Thinking: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in dynamic environments. Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both German and English, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes across teams. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field – or equivalent practical experience. Nice to Have:
