QualificationsOpen until Filled: This announcement is open until the vacancy is filled. It may be extended or closed prior to the current closing date. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-7: Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized Experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Examples include: Experience working in an inpatient hospital setting, outpatient surgery or clinical setting; Experience understanding anatomy, various states of illness, and advanced disease, treatments and diagnostic procedures; Infection control, aseptic, and sterile techniques; Experience observing patient's physical and emotional response to care; Experience utilizing various computer applications and electronically document in medical records; Exhibit a working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care delivery systems; Experience analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems; Flexibility to meet the needs of multiple physicians and/or schedule adjustments. OR Education: Successfully completing one (1) full year of graduate education. Transcripts must be provided if substituting education for Experience and/or if education is required for this position. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable, but official transcripts will be required before entrance on duty. Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience/training may be used to meet total experience requirements. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Major DutiesTotal Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Health Technician Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) General Health Technician Duties: Provides front desk reception by answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting patients, and assisting with registration and instructions. Maintains medical and financial records, processes insurance claims and mail, coordinates services, and performs computer-based tasks including billing, transcription, and data entry. Changing dressings, applying bandages, removing sutures and other first aid procedures. Performs patient care duties including documenting and educating patients, taking and recording vital signs, assisting providers with medical procedures, changing dressings, removing sutures, and providing first aid as directed by a physician.
