About this role
Brunel has partnered with Hatch to support the hiring of a  Module Design Specialist to join their team. Hatch is a globally recognized engineering, project delivery, and professional services firm, committed to the pursuit of a better world through positive change. With over 70 years of expertise across mining, energy, and infrastructure, Hatch delivers innovative and sustainable solutions worldwide. Through this partnership, we are seeking a   Module Design Specialist to join Hatch’s Project Delivery Group (PDG)—a dynamic and globally integrated team delivering world-class projects. The PDG combines deep expertise in sustainable studies, asset development, and operations, leveraging industry-leading methodologies, governance, and systems. About the role The Module Design Specialist is a senior structural engineering role responsible for the development, coordination, and integration of modular structural framing systems for heavy industrial projects. The role focuses on ensuring that modules are structurally fit for purpose through all phases of handling, transportation, lifting, and installation, while integrating seamlessly with plant layout, logistics, and overall project execution strategies. •   This position plays a critical role in front end studies and project execution by working closely with the Modularization Lead, Layout Lead, and discipline teams to develop practical, constructible, and cost-effective modular solutions. •   Key Responsibilities Lead the structural design and coordination of modular framing systems for heavy industrial facilities. Apply advanced structural engineering principles to address load paths, load transfer, and global behavior of modules during fabrication, transportation, lifting, and installation. Develop module structural concepts suitable for modular construction strategies during early project phases. Coordinate closely with the Project Layout Lead to ensure structural framing aligns with overall plant layout and plot plan development. Provide structural framing layouts and inputs to support interdisciplinary coordination and integration. Collaborate with the Modularization Lead in the development of modular execution strategies. Support the preparation of modular related cost estimates and project schedules during front end studies. Incorporate constructability, logistics, and heavy-lift considerations into structural module design. Apply knowledge of heavy lift equipment, lifting methods, and transportation restraints in design development. Account for module transportation methods, including ocean transport vessels, and understand their respective limitations and advantages. Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders. Engage directly with client representatives to coordinate and align module design solutions. Lead and supervise small technical teams, including mentoring junior engineers and designers. Maintain strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, and budget throughout project delivery. •   Required Experience and Qualifications Senior Structural Engineer or Designer with extensive experience in modular design. Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy industrial structural engineering, with a strong focus on modular framing systems. Proven experience designing industrial structures for mining, oil & gas, petrochemical, offshore, marine, and energy sectors (offshore and marine experience is highly regarded). Strong understanding of structural load transfer mechanisms, particularly loads induced during module handling, lifting, and transportation. Solid understanding of project execution workflows and how modular execution strategies impact traditional engineering and construction approaches. Demonstrated experience coordina
