Location: Milton, Ontario (In Person Only)
Salary: $90,000?$100,000 (Staff Accountant)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM ? 5:00 PM
During tax season: During March and April, 1/2 days of Saturdays. (hours are banked)
About the Role:
As a Staff Accountant ? Audit, you will be responsible for performing accounting/tax responsibilities with a focus on executing audit, review, and compilation engagements. You will play a key role in client communication, tax filings, and financial analysis. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is ready to take the next step in their public accounting career.
Responsibilities
• Plan, execute, and complete audit, review, and compilation engagements.
• Prepare adjusting journal entries, year-end entries, reporting, corporate tax returns (T2s), and other CRA filings.
• Serve as the primary contact between clients, client staff, and firm personnel.
• Analyze and review personal (T1s) and corporate (T2s) tax returns for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and complete personal tax returns for clients across Canada.
Requirements
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting or business with an accounting focus.
• CPA designation (or close to completion) strongly preferred.
• 3?5 years of experience in public practice, preferably with owner-managed clients.
• Hands-on experience with audits, reviews, and compilations.
• Strong working knowledge of Canadian tax laws and compliance standards.
• Proficiency with Caseware, QuickBooks, and/or Sage (Simply Accounting).
• Familiarity with tax software (e.g., Cantax) is an asset.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed during peak periods.
