The incumbent will promote INTERPOL Policing Capabilities, and also be responsible for developing and delivering capacity building and training programs for SALW control in Member States. This will include preparing training materials and conducting training for the purposes of combating illicit arms proliferation and firearms trafficking, use of INTERPOL Policing Capabilities, combating terrorism and enhancing security in Member States. </span></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES</span></strong></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">In the order of importance, indicate main duties and activities performed by the post holder: supervisory responsibility, taking decisions, etc. /Par ordre d’importance, indiquez les principales missions et activités du titulaire du poste (ex: missions d’encadrement, prise de décisions, etc.)</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">1) Act as a firearms and ballistic contact within Firearms Unit and projects.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">2) Liaise with military and law enforcement personnel within the Member States to identify entities responsible for the investigation of suspected firearms traffickers and assist law enforcement units with adherence to the INTERPOL Firearms Recovery Protocol or similar national protocols for the investigation and examination of firearms-related recovered evidence to further the prevention of crime.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">3) Promote Firearms Programme Policing Capabilities, iARMS, IBIN and IFRT to Members States and other stakeholders. </span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">4) Perform the necessary iARMS queries (and traces when applicable) on all recovered firearms and work with national entities to populate the database with each country’s registry of lost, stolen and suspected trafficked firearms.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">5) Enhance local capacity by providing train-the-trainer sessions on firearms for national firearms investigation units. </span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">6) Organize the implementation of regional operations against firearms trafficking.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">7) Perform all other duties required by the Coordinator Firearms.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt"> </span></p> <p> </p> <p><strong><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS</span></strong></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="text-decoration:underline"><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">• A minimum of three-to-four years’ education at a University or other specialized higher education establishment.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="text-decoration:underline"><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:</span></span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">• At least 3 years of experience in firearms-related investigations or in the prevention of firearms trafficking.
