To recommend the improvement of unsafe or unsanitary conditions in school facilities in accordance with the State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF)</p> </div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES</b></H2> </div><div><p>The Fire Safety Inspector I shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Identify hazardous locations enroute to and from school or school bus stop.</li> <li>Identify the unsafe conditions and/or acts relating to employees.</li> <li>Investigate employee injuries to determine cause.</li> <li>Inspect all school facilities throughout the County for Fire, Safety, Casualty, and Sanitation in accordance with State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).</li> <li>Perform safety inspection of event vendors and approve site plan.</li> <li>Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.</li> <li>Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.</li> <li>Review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.</li> <li>Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.</li> <li>Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee. </li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE</b></H2> </div><div><p>• A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing program.<br> • A minimum of four (4) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.<br> • Current certification for Fire Safety Inspector from the State of Florida, Department of Insurance, Division of State Fire Marshal, within one year.<br> • Verification of completion of course conducted by the State Department of Education to inspect existing school facilities in accordance with State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).<br> • Have knowledge of roads and streets throughout the County as they pertain to student safety enroute to and from school.<br> • Knowledge of accident prevention techniques.<br> • Have knowledge of the state and federal regulations as they pertain to safety and health.<br> • Computer skills as required for the position.</p> </div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE</b></H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Bilingual skills.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose</b></H2> </div><div><p>Frequently communicates with principals, school administration, and maintenance operations staff.</p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</b></H2> </div><div><p>Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.
