<p><span style="font-size:16.0px"><strong>General Assembly and Machine Operator</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:12.0px">General assembly and machine operators (“GMO”) are expected to operate high speed machine tools for fabricating, assembling and/or or manufacturing automotive or automotive related parts. These jobs include some degree of monitoring the manufacturing / assembly process and recording the results.</span><br> </p> <p><span style="font-size:12.0px">1. Specific tasks of GMOs include, but are not limited to the following: </span></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">work with computer-controlled equipment or more mechanically based machines produced required parts; and</span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">check their designated machines and equipment for problems; and </span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">perform maintenance tasks in order to ensure no errors occur with respect to materials produced; and </span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">perform quality checks to ensure parts pass quality checks; and </span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">check and prepare raw materials that a machine needs to work and load these materials appropriately; and </span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">ability to read and decipher blue prints; and </span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">understand and execute safe machine operation and practices. </span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-size:12.0px">2. Essential physical and cognitive skills necessary for GMOS include, but are not limited to the following:</span></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">basic math, reading and analytical skills to understand how blue prints, models and schematics work; and</span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">basic problem solving skills to understand why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output and how to fix errors; and</span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">attention to detail to understand working with precision equipment and avoid sub-quality parts; and</span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">physical stamina to conduct repetitive and labor intensive manufacturing and general assembly tasks, such as:</span> <ul> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">standing/walking on industrial surfaces for up to 12 hours a day and up to 7 days a week,</span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">loading and unloading machine parts between 20-35 pounds for up to 12 hours a day and up to 7 days a week; and</span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">be able to look up and down, lift, bend, stoop, twist, turn, climb, crouch/kneel, reach above shoulder level, push, pull using various body parts including: back, neck, legs and arms related to assembly, loading and machine operation and maintenance.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">be able to repeatedly pick up and/or sort small, medium and large sized parts (dexterity)</span></li> </ul> </li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">ability to work in a fast past environment exposed to machining and standard manufacturing chemicals and odors for up to 12 hours a day and up to 7 days a week; and</span></li> <li><span style="font-size:12.0px">ability to tolerate varying degrees of temperature, dim and bright lighting and loud noises for up to 12 hours a day and up to 7 days a week.</span></li> </ul>
