This employee performs clinical duties and technical work performing receptionist and clerical duties.</p> <p> </p> <p>Reception</p> <ul> <li>Schedule and confirm all volunteer Dentist and Patients.</li> <li>Coordinate schedule with volunteer dentist.</li> <li>Schedule patients for WSU Hygiene students</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>Dental Assistant</p> <ul> <li>Answer patient questions before an appointment.</li> <li>Prepare patients for dental procedures by making them comfortable and providing any instructions.</li> <li>Sterilize dental instruments and equipment, and placing for easy access.</li> <li>Prepare the dental exam room for use by the dentist by making sure it is stocked and organized.</li> <li>Assist the dentist during procedures, including passing instruments, getting supplies, and using the suction tube to keep the patient’s mouth dry.</li> <li>Assist with dental x-rays</li> <li>Prevent the spread of infection and disease by maintaining a surgically clean work environment.</li> <li>Will travel to various locations to assist with offsite dental clinics.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>Data Entry</p> <ul> <li>Verify patient notes are correct prior to entry into computer.</li> <li>Provider, Patient and appointment information entered into KIPHS and DAISEY.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: Dental Assistant Technical Certificate, two years of experience as a chair-side assistant, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. CPR certification. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid Kansas driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Must pass pre-employment testing for Proficiency in English and Spanish.</p> <p> </p> <p>Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited school of Dental Assisting with an Associate of Applied Science, Dental Assistant. One year of experience as a Dental Assistant. One year of experience as a certified Interpreter.
