Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Role Summary: The Logistics leader will coordinate all logistics requirements for the OFC Division to assure parts traceability, on-time delivery to customers, and business commitments on cost and quality. Key Responsibilities: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Ensure parts and systems move to their correct destination on time.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Route shipments using approved carriers.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Coordinate truckload deliveries with internal and external customers.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Coordinate the preparation of documentation for export / import shipments.</li> </ul> <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Initiate cost improvement projects using six sigma tools.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Coordinate the preparation of all commercial and import, export documentation required for goods movement, client payment and customs clearance.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Ensure regulatory compliance with all U.S. and international laws governing transportation and transactions (hazardous materials, licensable equipment, international banking laws, etc.).</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Maintain on-going communications with a wide spectrum of internal customers and interfaces, and external suppliers and customers.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Provide instructions and task based training to end users in order to stream line consistent logistics process.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Supervise entry level logistics coordinator as necessary as well as trades workforce.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Investigate shipment errors and issues and develop programs to eliminate them.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Develop packaging initiatives to reduce costs and improve product protection.</li> </ul> Required Education & Skills: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Associates degree, minimum of 5-10 years of experience in operations, supply chain, logistics and/or materials planning.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Significant attention to detail, coordination and communication with many functions within Corning and companies outside Corning.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Demonstrated ability to drive results in a team environment.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Professional written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Working knowledge of MS Office applications.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Basic database understanding to maintain asset inventory</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Excellent organizational skills.</li> </ul> Desired Skills: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Working knowledge of People Soft or other ERP.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Advanced MS Excel skills.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Familiar with Autodesk vault system and understand technical document such as spec sheet and CAD drawings</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Supervisory experience with trades workforce and technicians.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">APICS certification.</li> </ul> Travel Requirements: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">This position is based in Wilmington, NC. The range for this position is $50,929.00 - $70,028.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
