ABOUT THE ROLE TransAlta is currently hiring for a Mechanical Specialist – Electrical Instrumentation Technician. Reporting to the Windsor Plant Manager, the E/I Technician maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots plant electrical/instrumentation systems to ensure safe, reliable operations. This is a full-time, unionized, safety-sensitive position based out of our Windsor Cogeneration Plant. Pre-employment testing will be required as a condition of employment. This is a Unifor Local 444 position covered by the terms of the collective agreement. A DAY IN THE LIFE <ul> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot plant electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Perform preventative and predictive maintenance and submit work requests.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Ensure equipment meets safety, regulatory, and performance requirements.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Follow safe isolation, electrical safety, and maintenance procedures.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Maintain accurate CMMS records and support reliability improvements.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Respond to call‑outs for urgent electrical/instrumentation issues.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Work with contractors and Maintenance Support Staff; help manage spare parts.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Train and support team members on EI maintenance practices.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Perform routine housekeeping and other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> ABOUT YOU <ul> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Journeyperson Electrician Trade Certificate required; Instrumentation Technologist Certificate or dual trade certification considered an asset</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">+5 years of related experience, preferably in power generation, utilities, or other heavy industrial environments, is considered an asset </li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Skilled in troubleshooting, preventative/predictive maintenance, and work management.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Comfortable using business IT systems; SAP experience an asset.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Strong understanding of safety, quality, and regulatory standards.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Detail‑oriented, quick to learn, and proactive in your work.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Able to perform under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and work well in a team.</li> <li style="color:#333333;line-height:normal;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Customer‑service mindset with integrity, resilience, and initiative.</li> </ul> THE PERKS This position is covered under the Unifor Local 444 collective agreement.
