Closing Date: 09 August 2026 The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Electronics Technician to support practical teaching and laboratory activities across the School of Engineering’s electronic laboratories. Working as part of a skilled technical team, you will support taught modules, student projects, and research activities while contributing to the development of new laboratory experiments and facilities. You will be involved in a wide range of student-led projects and research initiatives involving: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">Analogue and digital circuits, including troubleshooting and fault finding</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">Printed circuit board (PCB) design, prototyping and assembly</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">AC/DC low-voltage motor drive systems</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">Microcontroller based systems (Microchip PIC, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi) including embedded programming</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">3D-printing and basic CAD design for prototype components</li> </ul> You will design, demonstrate, operate and maintain specialist electronic equipment, ensuring all work is carried out safely and effectively. You will also instruct and guide students in the use of laboratory equipment and processes, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, data acquisition systems, and microcontroller platforms. To be successful in this role, you should have substantial practical experience in an electronics environment, ideally within a teaching workshop or laboratory. You should also have demonstrable knowledge of analogue and digital electronics, PCB design, and electronic systems.
