Requisition Id 16653 Overview: We are seeking a Fire Protection Inspector who will function as a firefighter on a 12-hour rotating shift performing skilled emergency and non-emergency tasks. This position resides in the Fire Department in the Laboratory Protection Division, Facilities and Operations, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Major Duties/Responsibilities: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Extinguish all types of fires including fires involving structures, vehicles, and wildland.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Perform varying levels of technical search and rescue including vehicle, confined space, and tower/antenna.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Implement operations level Hazmat duties.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Execute patient care within scope of practice.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Operate and maintain emergency vehicles and equipment.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Perform Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance on fixed fire protection systems and portable equipment.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Execute dispatcher duties.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Present fire safety instruction to the public.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Maintain all training requirements for firefighter, emergency medical services, technical rescue and other certifications.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Must abide by the principles of Safe Conduct of Research including being personally responsible for ensuring safe operations by raising safety concerns, using a questioning attitude, considering hazards for every task, and never stop learning.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Deliver ORNL’s mission by aligning behaviors, priorities, and interactions with our core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service. Promote equal opportunity by fostering a respectful workplace – in how we treat one another, work together, and measure success.</li> </ul> Basic Qualifications: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">High school diploma or GED.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Minimum of 5 years of fire department experience.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Firefighter Level II Certification in accordance with the State of Tennessee Commission on Firefighting.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Emergency Medical Paramedic License from the State of Tennessee.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Tennessee Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License with an F endorsement.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts.</li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Current certification with Tennessee Association of Rescue Squad EVOC/VKF/BPP or equivalent training/certification.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Current certification with Tennessee Association of Rescue Squad Basic Extrication or equivalent training/certification.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Current certification with Tennessee Association of Rescue Squad Operations Rope Rescue or equivalent training/certification.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Experience responding to hazardous material emergencies as a member of a team.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Experience performing inspection, testing, and maintenance on fire protection systems and equipment.</li> </ul> Special Requirements: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Physical Requirements: Work involves various physical requirements and working conditions. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after offer.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">HSPD-12 PIV badge: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Q clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position.
