Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <ol> <li>Performs a variety of repetitive and non-repetitive tasks associated with electrical design and electro-mechanical testing of new equipment and new product prototypes in a lab enviroment. </li> <li>Runs and programs automated testing machines (DITMCO) for harness and component testing. </li> <li>Provides technical assistance to other personnel in the operation of computers, electronic equipment and various test applications. </li> <li>Performs first level testing, using standard equipment, and analyzes results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustments. </li> <li>Builds, operates and modifies non-standard equipment and test fixtures. May recommend new equipment materials or procedures to improve product quality or reliability. </li> <li>Communicates with internal and external customers. </li> <li>Programs integrated circuits (ic chip, eprom, etc.).</li> <li>Performs mechanical calibration of systems and equipment. </li> <li>Develops fixturing and schematic drawings. </li> <li>Assists in writing, programming or modifying test specifications using standard procedures and/or computers. </li> </ol> Nothing in this job description restricts management's rights to assign/reassign duties or responsibilities to this job at any time. Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses and Certifications: <ul style="list-style-type:square"> <li>Reads and interprets drawings, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings and engineering instructions while applying knowledge of electronic theory and components. </li> <li>Performs basic soldering. </li> <li>Uses advanced electronic test equipment such as waveform analyzer, programmable power supply, etc. </li> <li>Understands written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents. </li> </ul> <ul style="list-style-type:square"> <li>Communicates effectively in verbal and written communication methods as appropriate.</li> <li>Uses a computer’s scroll bars, mouse, and dialog boxes to work within the operating system. Accesses and switches between applications and files of interest. </li> <li>Performs basic troubleshooting and determines causes for test failures. </li> <li>Possesses working knowledge of basic electrical components, advanced circuitry and schematics, safety procedures when working with voltage greater than 70 DC, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). </li> <li>Uses Alstom specific computer databases such as SAP to manage large amounts of information, input data, retrieve specific records, and create reports to communicate the information. </li> <li>Utilizes Microsoft Excel to enter, manipulate and format text and numerical data; insert, delete and manipulate cells, rows and columns; and create and save worksheets. </li> <li>Uses Microsoft Word to type text, format, edit, print, save and retrieve documents. </li> </ul> Education and/or Experience <ul style="list-style-type:square"> <li>High school graduate plus two years additional education in an electronics technical school or two academic years of college in engineering/science or equivalent. </li> </ul> Physical Requirements: <ul> <li> Frequently works in a standing position. </li> <li> Frequently lifts loads of 40 lbs or less.<s> </s></li> <li class="Default">Occasionally bends and positions self to access tight spaces. </li> <li class="Default">Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. </li> <li class="Default">Frequently handles, feels, operates and controls objects, tools or controls. </li> </ul> <ul style="list-style-type:square"> <li>Frequently repeats the same physical and mental activities. </li> <li>Frequently observes gauges, dials or other indicators to ensure a machine is working properly. </li> <li class="Default">Requires wearing personal protective equipment including steel-toe shoes and safety glasses. </li> <li>Constantly responsible for the health and safety of others. </li> </ul> Working Conditions: <ul style="list-style-type:square"> <li>Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions at field sites or suppliers. </li> <li>Travels on an as needed basis. </li> </ul> You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us.
