Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and reliable individual to join the Switchboard Team at Glangwili Hospital. The role involves providing a professional and efficient telephone and communication service for the hospital, ensuring all calls are handled promptly and courteously.
We have three 24 hour contracts available, covering shift work on a service that operates 24/7 and 365 days.
Main duties of the job
Operate the hospital's main switchboard system Answer incoming calls and direct them appropriately Respond to emergency calls and activate bleep/paging systems Maintain accurate records of calls and messages Provide general information to patients, staff, and visitors Support hospital communication systems during incidents or emergencies

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge Essential
Educated to NVQ Level 3/GCSE level Working knowledge of computerised systems and the ability to use IT packages (e.g. Microsoft Office or equivalent).
Desirable
Educated to NVQ Level 4 / A level.
Experience Essential
Switchboard / Call Centre experience. Experience of working in patient / customer facing role
Desirable
Experience of working in a busy, demanding environment with competing priorities Experience of working in an NHS environment. Knowledge of basic medical terminologies
Other Essential
Ability to work flexibly and to cope with an unpredictable workload. Able to work unsocial hours. A willingness to learn Welsh
