The Research and Innovation Department is continuing its exciting expansion. We have several research specialities, and the Cardiology research portfolio is looking for a Senior Clinical Trials Assistant.

We have one full time post (1.0 WTE), with a permanent contract. This post will be based at LGI.

Main duties of the job The post holder is responsible for supporting and administering all the clinical research within Research and Innovation at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust under the guidance of the Senior Research Nurse. The main tasks will be liaising with all the internal and external parties involved in the setting up, maintenance and closure of the research studies. The Post holder will assist the administrative aspect of the clinical research/ trials management including costings. They must ensure that all the trial protocols are adhered to in line with ICHGCP Practice. In addition of being responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical care planning, delivery, safety, and patient satisfaction are to a very high standards, compliance with Trust policy, study protocol requirements, local and national guidance and legislation is required. Why you should join our Team

The Cardiovascular Research Team is a well-established and extended team with a few sub-specialties. We currently have around 60 active trials including CTIMPS, new devices and procedures and observational studies. It is an exciting environment and a great opportunity where experienced CTA can develop further skills and responsibility with the support of the team. Our team is highly motivated and collaborates to deliver high quality research. We work alongside multiple departments such as Pharmacy, Pathology, MRI, Radiology and Cardiology wards which would provide additional exposure and opportunity for the post holder to explore and learn within the role.

What you will bring to the role We are looking to recruit a proactive and self-motivated individual with a keen interest in research to work within the cardiology team. The post holder will be able to contribute to the development of the Cardiology Portfolio. The post holder will be assisting Research Nurses with the preparation of documentation for submission to Research and Innovation and follow up on the progress of each trial submitted. The post holder will be required to work alongside industry partners, the National Institute for Heath Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) and colleagues in neighbouring establishments, attending regional and national meetings as required. The successful candidate will have clinical trials experience and an understanding of how trials are delivered within the NHS. The post holder will work closely with the Admin Team, Delivery Team, Investigators and Sponsors. The post holder must adhere to the Data Protection Act and always maintain patient confidentiality at all times. The successful candidate will be required to support and coordinate multiple trials simultaneously. The post holder will be providing clinical and administrative support to the research team such us Phlebotomy/Blood pressure/Height/Weight/ECG, collecting and managing research data, archiving of research studies, maintaining and updating study documentation and leading on observation research trials.
