PRACTICE NURSE OPPORTUNITY
Practice Nurse required for 20.5 hours per week over three days (Wednesday - Friday) with flexibility to cover additional hours when needed
Rural training and dispensing Practice with a supportive clinical and administrative team and an ethos of continuous development and improvement.
NMC registered nurse required with treatment room experience including vaccinations, dressings, chronic disease management, family planning and cytology preferred but training will be given to the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical nursing service and support to patients of the practice including treatment room procedures, screening, chronic disease management and other advice within their professional competence.
They will work alongside their fellow Practice Nurse and the wider clinical and administrative team to meet the needs of our patients. All duties will be carried out in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and with regard to the various practice protocols.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF POST
Providing assessment and treatment services and health education advice
Health Screening and preventative care including routine immunisations for children and adults, travel advice and immunisations and cervical screening.
Sexual Health services to include contraception advice and assisting in the fitting of IUCD/IUS and contraceptive implants
Treatment of patients with long term medical conditions by providing advice to patient with a new diagnosis and to patients and providing ongoing care, including screening and further investigations to those attending for review of their condition.
Administrative & Professional responsibilities will include ensuring accurate and contemporaneous notes of all consultations and treatment, adherence to NMC standards for nursing professionals and assessment of personal performance and development.

Brookside Surgery in Stretton on Dunsmore is a 2 GP Partner practice, Dr Alex Watters and Dr Jon Menon work alongside Dr Nick Tyrrell and Dr Ben Thurlow (salaried GPs) to provide care to around 4,500 patients across a wide geographical area.

Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team Ensure accurate and contemporaneous notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients electronic medical record Ensure appropriate items of enhanced services claims are made accurately, paying particular attention to the use of correct coding and reporting any problems to the practice administrator Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports and audit Attend and participate in practice meetings as required Restocking and maintenance of clinical areas and consulting rooms Minor Surgery Procedures
Management of the Treatment Room for minor operations including maintenance of equipment and stock, adequate staffing and ensuring appropriate enhanced services claims are made To assist the doctor to carry out minor surgery procedures as required. Report any problems to the practice managerTraining and personal development
Training requirements will be monitored by yearly appraisal and will be in accordance with practice requirements. Personal development will be encouraged and supported by the practice. It is the individuals responsibility to remain up to date with recent developments.
Participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and the introduction of all members of the practice staff where appropriate Participate in and contribute to Practice Clinical Education Programme. Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development ensuring PREP requirements are met. If it is necessary to expand the role to include additional responsibilities, full training will be given. Develop and maintain a Personal Learning Plan and Reflective Log and any other requirements necessary for nurse revalidation Liaison
As well as the nursing team there is a need to work closely with reception, admin and dispensary staff to ensure the smooth running of the practice, reporting any problems encountered to the relevant person and ensuring everyone is aware of the different roles within the nursing team. There is also the need to establish and maintain good liaison with other surgeries and agencies including secondary and community care Ensure adequate nursing cover is provided while within the practice guidelines, keeping the practice manager informed of any problems Ensure the practice manager informed of any matters arising or problems / potential problemsMeetings
It will be necessary to attend and contribute to various practice meetings as requested. The only reason for not attending will be annual, study or sick leave.Health & safety:
