Job summary

Were looking for a sharp, organised, and deliveryfocused operational leader to take ownership of our multidisciplinary teams at Penrose Health.

While the title says Practice Manager, this role is not about frontdesk admin, rota juggling, or daytoday patient queries. This is a senior, handson leadership role with real scope. Youll be accountable for performance, productivity, workforce strategy, and people development, making sure our AHP workforce is not just busy, but effective, efficient, and delivering real impact for patients.

Youll lead a diverse team including Physician Associates, Clinical Pharmacists, the Nursing team, and other AHPs across our practices. Your job is to create clarity, pace, and accountability - turning strategy into action and challenges into practical solutions. Youll operate at speed, spot issues early, and arrive with answers, not problems.

You wont be working in isolation. Youll partner closely with Clinical Supervisors, GPs, and AHP Leads who provide professional and clinical oversight. They bring the clinical expertise; you bring the operational grip, structure, and followthrough that keeps services running smoothly and safely at scale.

Main duties of the job

Leading and developing a multidisciplinary AHP workforce, setting clear expectations and driving high standards of performanceOwning operational delivery across practices, ensuring patient demand, workforce capacity, and access are aligned through proactive planningUsing data, dashboards, and KPIs to track productivity, quality, and flow - acting quickly when performance dipsSpotting bottlenecks across access, utilisation, documentation, or followup and fixing them without hesitationManaging budgets and resources responsibly, ensuring maximum patient value from every session deliveredRecruiting, onboarding, and embedding new AHPs so they are confident, effective, and safe from day oneCoaching and performancemanaging team members with pace, fairness, and clarity - addressing issues early and constructivelyBuilding a culture of accountability, ownership, and delivery - where standards are clear and excuses dont lingerWorking closely with clinical leaders to ensure safe practice, clear role boundaries, and integrated workflows across the PCNSupporting service changes, pathway redesign, and improvements to triage and escalation processes

Job description Job responsibilities

The Practice Manager provides senior operational and performance leadership for the multidisciplinary AHP workforce, with clear ownership for how services run and how they improve. The role exists to ensure teams are highperforming, accountable, and productive, delivering excellent patient care within clear financial, capacity, and productivity frameworks.

Operating at pace, the Practice Manager takes a proactive, solutionsfocused approach, spotting issues early, making confident decisions, and bringing resolutions rather than escalations. Youll balance strategic thinking with handson operational grip, using data and insight to drive continuous improvement.

This is a role for a commercially minded, detailoriented leader who works autonomously, partners effectively with senior and clinical leaders, and owns outcomes with minimal oversight.

Key relationships Operations Director direct line manager; strategic oversight. Partners senior leadership; practice-wide strategic alignment. Clinical Supervisors & AHP Team Leads collaborative partners providing professional and clinical oversight. Multidisciplinary Teams Physician Associates, Clinical Pharmacists, Nursing team, and other AHPs. Head of People & Performance collaboration on training, development, and performance. Hiring & Recruitment Teams joint work on staffing, onboarding, and induction. GPs & Clinical Leads coordination of workflows, escalation pathways, and wider workforce integration.

Person Specification

Knowledge Essential

Understanding of service/team management; operational performance principles; workforce planning Understanding of primary care knowledge of NHS structures

Qualifications Essential

Experience managing people in healthcare, NHS, or service-based settings
