Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our friendly, experienced and supportive clinical team at Culcheth Medical Centre. This permanent, part-time position is for 6 sessions per week, comprising 5 clinical sessions and 1 protected administrative session for CPD and clinical administration. Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive primary care services to our patient population through a combination of face-to-face, telephone and online consultations. Responsibilities include assessing and managing acute and chronic conditions, reviewing and actioning clinical correspondence and investigation results, safe and effective prescribing, participation in quality improvement and clinical governance activities, and contributing to the practice home visiting service. The postholder will work closely within our multidisciplinary team and support the educational and training ethos of the practice.

Salaried General Practitioner (GP)

Job Summary

Culcheth Medical Centre is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, patient-focused and motivated Salaried General Practitioner to join our established and supportive clinical team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a progressive and forward-thinking GP Training Practice that places patient care, education, innovation and staff wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. The successful postholder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality primary care services to a practice population of approximately 12,600 patients.

The role comprises 6 sessions per week, including 5 clinical sessions and 1 protected administrative session to support clinical administration, professional development and continuing professional development (CPD) activities.The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, evidence-based medical care to patients, contribute to the ongoing development of practice services, participate in quality improvement initiatives and support the educational ethos of the organisation.

Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe postholder will be responsible for providing a full range of primary medical services to the registered patient population in accordance with the General Medical Services (GMS) Contract, GMC standards and relevant NHS policies and guidance.

Clinical ResponsibilitiesThe Salaried GP will:

Provide high-quality, safe and effective primary care services to patients. Undertake face-to-face consultations within the practice. Conduct telephone consultations where clinically appropriate. Undertake online consultations and digital consultations where required. Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Formulate appropriate management plans in partnership with patients. Promote person-centred care and shared decision-making. Identify and appropriately manage patients presenting with urgent or complex clinical needs. Make referrals to secondary care, community services and other healthcare providers as appropriate.

Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and legally compliant clinical records.Ensure appropriate follow-up arrangements are made and communicated effectively.Contribute to safeguarding arrangements for children and vulnerable adults.Comply with all infection prevention and control procedures.Participate in the management of long-term conditions.Support preventative healthcare initiatives and health promotion activities.Engage in population health management approaches where appropriate.

Home VisitingThe postholder will:

Participate in the practice home visiting service for housebound and vulnerable patients. Assess patients in their own homes when clinically necessary. Work in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure effective community-based care. Contribute fairly to the practice home visiting rota and arrangements.Home visits are shared equitably across the clinical team and are supported by wider multidisciplinary resources wherever possible.

Clinical AdministrationThe postholder will:

Review and action pathology results, radiology reports and other investigation results. Review and process incoming correspondence from hospitals, community providers and other services. Complete clinical documentation in a timely manner. Review medication requests and undertake safe prescribing. Process insurance, DVLA and other medical reports where appropriate. Ensure effective management of workflow tasks and electronic communications.

Prescribing ResponsibilitiesThe Salaried GP will:

Prescribe safely and effectively in accordance with local and national guidance. Undertake medication reviews. Support medicines optimisation initiatives. Work collaboratively with Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. Promote cost-effective prescribing while maintaining high standards of patient care.

The postholder will:

Work collaboratively with GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nursing staff, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Care Coordinators and other members of the primary care team. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings. Support integrated working across primary, community and secondary care services. Develop positive working relationships with external stakeholders and healthcare partners. Contribute to a culture of mutual respect, teamwork and professionalism.

Quality Improvement and Clinical GovernanceThe Salaried GP will:

Participate in clinical governance activities. Support and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Participate in clinical audit and service evaluation activities. Assist in identifying opportunities to improve patient outcomes and service delivery. Contribute to the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) objectives. Support the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical pathways. Comply with practice policies and procedures. Report incidents, near misses and significant events appropriately. Participate in significant event reviews and shared learning processes.

Education, Training and Professional DevelopmentAs an accredited GP Training Practice, education and workforce development form a central part of our organisational culture.

The postholder will:

Support the educational ethos of the practice. Work alongside GP Registrars, Student Nurses and Pharmacists. Contribute to a positive learning environment. Participate in teaching and supervision activities where appropriate. Support learners and colleagues through informal mentoring and knowledge sharing. Maintain professional registration and revalidation requirements.

Participate in continuing professional development activities. Keep up to date with relevant clinical developments and best practice guidance. Maintain a personal development plan and participate in annual appraisal. Previous teaching experience is not essential; however, an interest in supporting education and professional development is desirable.

The postholder will:

Utilise practice clinical systems effectively. Maintain accurate and secure electronic patient records. Comply with all information governance requirements. Adhere to data protection legislation and confidentiality standards. Ensure safe handling of patient information at all times. Support the safe and effective use of digital technologies within primary care.

Safeguarding Responsibilities The Salaried GP will:

Demonstrate an awareness of safeguarding responsibilities. Participate in safeguarding training in line with statutory requirements. Identify and appropriately manage safeguarding concerns relating to children and adults. Work collaboratively with safeguarding partners and agencies where required. Maintain accurate documentation relating to safeguarding matters.
